
Latifah Shabazz is a self-taught pencil portrait artist, acrylic painter and jewelry designer. A native of Harrisburg, PA, she is well known for capturing the inner beauty and light of her subjects, and her ability to transfer that vision in realistic detail to her art. Among her many exhibitions; her work was selected by PA Council on the Arts Celebrating Visual Traditions II Exhibition. She was featured in the Women Artists of Color “Of The Spirit” Exhibition held at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Ms. Shabazz shares her skills in various programs involving youth, by teaching drawing skills and creative activities. She is Co-founder of Ngozi Inc., a non-profit, African cultural arts organization. She has also conducted classes for Barak Inc. youth mural project. She is a recipient of the Queen of Arts Award from Women, Create!, Center for Women’s Creative Expression. In her work with women she formed a support group/collective of 22 African American women artists called "SisterArt". Inspired by these women she produced “Women of Strength” a tribute to Black Women told through the lives of 15 different characters. Women of Strength used visual art, poetry, monologues, music and dance to celebrate the resilience of women who rise above their circumstances.
